APICS Gold 2016

The Champlain Valley Chapter of APICS was founded in December 1982 and provides networking and educational opportunities to professionals in the manufacturing and business environment. Based in Vermont near Burlington, we serve northern and southern Vermont as well as the Plattsburgh area of upstate New York. Our professional, student and academic members represent a wide variety of industries and backgrounds with the common goal of career advancement through continuing education. We strive to be students and employees who grasp the intricacies of materials and business management.

APICS  is the global leader and premier source of the body of knowledge in supply chain and operations management, including production, inventory, materials management, purchasing, and logistics.APICS recognizes the contributions supply chain and operations management professionals make to their employers and the global economy and has developed a comprehensive suite of educational resources, including:

  • education, training, industry publications and research, and world-renowned certification programs
  • opportunities for career development, networking, and best practice sharing
  • local and global membership and affiliation opportunities worldwide.

Chapter Goals

 

The Mission of the Champlain Valley  APICS Chapter is to support the growth of our chapter by providing APICS educational and networking opportunities to our members and the local business community. We will achieve our mission by meeting the following goals:

  • Offer at least two each manufacturing related courses per schedule year.
  • Offer at least two APICS Certification review courses per schedule year.
  • Recruit and develop motivated individuals for the chapter board of directors.
  • Regularly measure our performance, review our successes, and react as necessary to fulfill our mission.

Join ATD and APICS as we brainstorm and share successful onboarding techniques. "Onboarding" is the term used to describe how companies transition new employees into their job. This transition can involve introductions, systems, equipment, locations and coworkers. The Champlain Valley APICS Chapter is investing in the future of all our members. We are offering local, instructor led courses for APICS' newest certification: Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution, known as CLTD.

 

 

 

Learn essentials skills necessary to succeed in global logistics management.

Companies count on logistics experts—one of the fastest-growing professions in the world—to get their products to customers on time and on budget. By earning the APICS Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution (CLTD) designation, you learn how to implement innovative logistics strategies and concepts to reduce costs, increase customer satisfaction and perform at a higher level. You will also demonstrate your commitment to advancing both your career and your company’s operations.

Chapter Gets the Gold!
 

We are proud to announce that our APICS Champlain Valley Chapter received the 2016 CBAR Gold Award. The APICS Chapter Benchmarking and Reporting (CBAR) program recognizes chapters that have exceeded minimum standards and exemplify excellence in overall chapter management.

Our chapter’s rapid advancement from Bronze to Silver in 2014 and Silver to Gold designation in 2015 is an admirable accomplishment that demonstrates our commitment to continuously improving your member experiences - stellar education, career development and networking opportunities.

 

2017 CPIM Class Schedule

8 week course
Classes are held every Wednesday from 4 - 7pm in Burlington, VT.

The Champlain Valley APICS chapter is providing an opportunity to begin your education and CPIM certification by offering a Basics of Supply Chain Management class.

An APICS CPIM education offers an essential study of:

  • Production and inventory management
  • Operations
  • Supply chain management
  • Procurement
  • Materials management
  • Purchasing

 

Course materials are provided by the instructor on the first day of class. Course materials consist of the CPIM module study guide, on-line access to course related study bank, and whatever handouts the instructor determines to be useful study aids, such as case studies or content related articles. Additional handouts are provided at the instructor’s discretion and are considered a value-add to attending the 'in person' course versus the 'self-study' option.

What makes the Champlain Valley APICS chapter unique among APICS chapters is our close affiliation with other proffesional organizations in the area.  Twice a year, by the name of TPC, (The Professional's Collaboration), networking meetings are held in which members from different industries and disciplines can come together to mingle, discuss recent topics and hear guest speakers.  What better way to meet make new friends, see old ones and get together with people that have the same interests and commitment that you do to ongoing education and training in the workplace.
